The Zagreb City Theater Komedija started operations on November 1, 1950, succeeding the Zagreb Drama Theatre and Vedri Kerempuh Theatre organizations.
The venue presents musicals, operettas, comic operas, and contemporary comedies through a company of 150 performers, including actors, singers, dancers, and orchestra members.
Performances include both international productions and Croatian works, with regular showings of musical theater pieces like Beauty and the Beast and Jesus Christ Superstar.
The theater premiered the first Croatian rock opera Gubec-beg in 1981 and continues to produce musical performances that combine classical and modern elements.
