Old Town, Varaždin

The fortress features stone and brick construction with a central tower decorated with Gothic benches, positioned at 175 meters above sea level.

Built around 1600, the castle served as a defense structure with water-filled moats and high earthen banks constructed by Italian builders from Como.

The City Museum exhibits collections of guild objects, historical portraits, weapons, furniture, paintings, watches, porcelain, and glass across forty galleries.

The castle maintains regular visiting hours throughout the year, offering guided tours and permitting photography within the museum premises.

The Renaissance-style entrance tower includes a chain bridge and houses an art gallery of the Croatian Association of Artists on the ground floor.
