Ružica grad

Ružica grad is a stone castle ruin positioned on a steep rocky outcrop in the forest near Orahovica. The fortress remains display their original structure with preserved wall sections that overlook the surrounding woodland.

This fortress was built in the 14th century to serve as a defensive structure and residence. It eventually came under different control in the 16th century and gradually declined in importance.

The site's name comes from its former function as a fortress and draws visitors who feel connected to medieval times. Local communities use this space to celebrate their ties to the region's past through seasonal gatherings and performances.

A marked hiking trail connects to the ruins through forest woodland, making access straightforward for most visitors. Good footwear is advisable since parts of the path are steep and the terrain can be muddy after rain.

This is one of the largest surviving medieval castle ruins in the region, drawing regular interest from history enthusiasts. From the site, visitors can spot wildlife as the surrounding forests are home to deer and other large animals.
