Papuk Nature Park

Papuk Nature Park is a large protected area in Slavonia with rolling mountains, deep valleys, and dense forests crossed by flowing streams. The terrain spans two counties and contains diverse habitats ranging from elevated forested slopes to river valleys.

The area held strategic importance during the medieval period, as shown by several fortress ruins scattered throughout. These defensive structures were built when the region faced ongoing external pressure.
