Lisičine Arboretum, Arboretum in Voćin, Croatia.
Lisičine Arboretum is a 42-hectare facility in Voćin that houses over 500 plant species from Europe, Asia, and North America. The collection features extensive stands of conifers and deciduous trees organized across distinct zones.
Engineer Đuro Jorgić founded the arboretum in 1963, starting with native species. The collection expanded in 1967 with the introduction of conifer varieties.
The site functions as an outdoor classroom where students from the region learn about plant species and conduct seasonal field research. Visitors can observe how the space serves this educational role through the organization of plant groupings and interpretive information throughout the grounds.
Visitors can explore 24 hectares independently or walk with an official guide who shares detailed information about notable species. Wearing proper footwear and allowing time for leisurely walks through the grounds is advisable.
The site houses Croatia's largest collection of conifer species and includes an 18-hectare stand of beech forest left to develop naturally without human intervention. This unmanaged woodland offers a striking contrast to the carefully curated collection zones.
