Open air museum Staro selo, Kumrovec

The museum comprises 40 restored traditional houses and barns constructed from pressed earth and wood along the Sutla River valley.

The museum's development began in 1947 when visitors started coming to see the birthplace of Josip Broz Tito, leading to village preservation initiatives.

The museum exhibits demonstrate traditional crafts through blacksmithing, pottery making, flax weaving, and candlemaking, representing Croatian rural life.

Visitors should arrange private transportation as only two daily buses operate between Zagreb and Kumrovec on weekdays, with a journey time of 75 minutes.

Each traditional Zagorje hut contains period-specific furniture, tools, and mannequins with English descriptions explaining regional customs and crafts.
