Bizeljsko Castle, Castle in Bizeljska vas, Slovenia.
Bizeljsko Castle is a fortified residence in Bizeljska vas situated on elevated terrain in southeastern Slovenia. The complex includes residential buildings, defensive walls, and a Baroque chapel within its grounds.
The castle was first documented in 1404 when it served as a defensive outpost between the Holy Roman Empire and Kingdom of Hungary. In the 19th century, the Moscon family became the controlling owners.
The Archbishopric of Salzburg maintained feudal rights until the 19th century, when the Moscon family took control and influenced local governance.
A forest footpath leads to the entrance of this national monument in the Municipality of Brežice. The walk is accessible on foot and provides a natural approach to the site.
The grounds are surrounded by a landscaped park featuring a large sequoia tree and a pond. These natural elements create an attractive contrast to the historical fortifications.
