Sinac

Sinac is a rural settlement in Lika-Senj County located southeast of Otočac at an elevation of 450 meters. The village sprawls across its landscape and is shaped by the Gacka River, along which several traditional mills stand.

The settlement developed as the Lika region was populated and was shaped for generations by reliance on water power for daily life. Its recent history was marked by conflict in the 1990s, which claimed lives among local residents.

The settlement reflects traditional rural craftsmanship, with water-powered mills along the Gacka River still operating using ancestral techniques. Visitors can observe these working methods and understand how local communities have long depended on the river's consistent flow.

The Majerovo Vrilo area contains restored mills where visitors can observe traditional grain processing and purchase fresh flour directly. The location sits in hilly terrain, so sturdy footwear is recommended for exploring the surroundings on foot.

The Gacka River maintains a constant water temperature year-round, which powers the mills reliably and makes local production special. This natural feature allows the mills to operate consistently regardless of the season.
