St. Lawrence church in Petrinja, Catholic church in Petrinja, Croatia

St. Lawrence church is a late-Baroque and Neoclassical replica built in 2004 on the foundations of the original 1780 church, which was destroyed in 1992. It stands in the town park on Strossmayer promenade in central Petrinja, near the confluence of the Petrinjčica and Kupa rivers. The church follows the old architectural plans in detail.

The first church in Petrinja was built in 1603; the old St. Lawrence church was built in 1780 in late Baroque or Neoclassical style. The parish has operated continuously since 1677 within the Military Frontier. The church was shelled on 2 September 1991 and demolished on 23 February 1992; a replica was built on its foundations in 2004.

The bell in the rebuilt church, weighing 325 kg and 830 mm wide, was made by the Zagreb firm Metal-Product and donated by the family of Stjepan Šafran. It last rang on 16 October 1998 at noon at the 12th station of the Way of the Cross on Kalvarija in Marija Bistrica, during the Mass led by Pope John Paul II at which Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac was beatified.

The bell in the rebuilt tower weighs 325 kg and is 830 mm wide, cast by the Zagreb firm Metal-Product and given by the family of Stjepan Šafran. It last rang at the top of the Kalvarija in Marija Bistrica on 16 October 1998, at noon, during the Mass at which Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac was beatified.
