Cistercian Church, Baroque church in Eger, Hungary
The Cistercian Church features a two-tower facade facing east, with white walls and architectural elements reflecting traditional Jesuit design principles.
Construction of the church began in 1700, experienced interruptions during the invasion of Ferenc Rákóczi II's troops, and reached completion in 1743.
The main altar painting connects the Old and New Testament by depicting both Abraham's sacrifice and the crucifixion of Jesus.
The church remains open throughout the year with no entrance fee, and serves as a location for wedding ceremonies primarily on Saturdays.
The church bell, weighing 721.84 kilograms and cast in 1830, maintains its original condition as one of Hungary's largest unaltered historic bells.
