Sacelláry Castle, Art Nouveau château in Budafok, Hungary.
Sacelláry Castle is a three-story château featuring Art Nouveau details throughout, with carved wooden railings, stained glass windows, and decorative wooden paneling in its rooms. The building sits within a two-hectare English garden planted with chestnut trees and surrounded by a stone wall.
A member of the Sacelláry family commissioned the building in 1898 for a female family member. She later married an entrepreneur whose family estate was located on the neighboring property.
The stained glass windows inside display the craftsmanship of a renowned artist, reflecting the skilled techniques of the era. The Sacelláry family legacy remains visible through their coat of arms displayed in the great hall.
The castle is privately owned and operates as an event venue, so regular visits are typically not available without special permission. Check ahead for public events or organized tours that might offer access to the grounds.
The building served as a medical care facility for serious lung disease before being acquired and substantially renovated years later. The restoration work returned the house to its original artistic standards.
