Törley Mausoleum, Art Nouveau mausoleum in Budafok, Hungary.
The Törley Mausoleum is a two-level structure with an upper chapel and lower crypt built in the Art Nouveau style. Stone carvings and glass mosaics decorate the interior spaces throughout the building.
Built in 1909 by architect Rezső Vilmos Ray, the mausoleum was commissioned by Irén Sacelláry following her husband József Törley's death in 1907. It reflects how prominent Budapest families honored their deceased members through elaborate private structures.
The building reflects artistic styles that were fashionable in early 1900s Hungary, mixing Byzantine and Art Nouveau forms. The stone carvings and glass mosaics inside show how craftspeople of that time combined different visual traditions.
The building is located at Sarló Street 6 in Budapest District XXII and is currently not open to visitors due to deterioration inside. You can view the exterior structure and facade details from outside the grounds.
The mausoleum stands on the highest point of the surrounding castle grounds. The Törley family were among Hungary's most important sparkling wine producers of their time.
