Vecsembükk Pothole, Natural cave in Bódvaszilas, Hungary

The Vecsembükk Pothole features multiple vertical shafts within the limestone formations of the Aggtelek Karst system, reaching substantial depths below ground level.

Initial exploration of the cave's entrance shaft led to the discovery of additional passages in 1969, expanding knowledge of underground systems in northern Hungary.

The cave serves as a research site for geologists and speleologists studying the formation processes of the karst landscapes in the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén region.

Access to the cave requires proper caving equipment, technical expertise, and coordination with the Hungarian Cave Rescue Service for safety measures.

This vertical cave system stands as the deepest known pothole formation throughout the entire Alsó-hegy Plateau within the Aggtelek Karst region.
