Budapest Eye, Observation wheel in Erzsébet Square, Hungary

The Budapest Eye is a 65-metre mobile Ferris wheel on Erzsébet Square, near Deák Ferenc tér. Its white rim and spokes carry 42 enclosed four-person cabins, giving room for 168 passengers. An electromagnetic drive turns the wheel without noise. It was set up by the Sziget Cultural Management Agency and has stood in the square since summer 2013.

The wheel was set up by Sziget Cultural Management Agency Ltd and opened on Erzsébet tér in June 2013, near Deák Ferenc tér. The Ministry of Finance had raised environmental concerns and feared an imbalance with the square's leisure and rest functions; the city's public-space committee approved it on 7 May. It ran from 8 June to 22 July, then moved to the Sziget Festival in August.

The wheel was set up by the Sziget Cultural Management Agency, the office behind the Sziget Festival, and ran on Erzsébet tér from 8 June to 22 July 2013 before moving to the festival in August. A four-day pálinka festival was organised beside it by the operator of the Akvárium Klub, the former Gödör.

Each ride lasts several rotations and gives enough time to look in all directions. Visitors who come toward evening can watch the sunset and the city lights beginning to glow.

The wheel is driven electromagnetically, so it turns without the noise of a motor. It carries 42 enclosed four-person cabins, giving room for 168 passengers at a time. The structure is dismantled and moved: after its Erzsébet tér season it ran at the Sziget Festival in August.
