Synagogue in Kőszeg, 19th-century synagogue in Kőszeg, Hungary

The synagogue exhibits Neo-Gothic architecture with two crenellated towers and a cylindrical main section topped by a flat dome with Baroque painted decorations.

Baron Philip Schey, the first Jewish person elevated to Hungarian nobility in 1859, funded the construction of this synagogue between 1856 and 1859.

The building complex includes the main prayer hall, mikveh ritual bath, Talmud-Tora school, and rabbi's residence, reflecting complete Jewish religious requirements.

Following extensive renovations completed in August 2022, the synagogue now functions as both a cultural center and a venue for religious services.

The Torah shrine features an ornate wrought iron grille that separates it from the Bimah, creating distinct spaces within the 30.6-meter-long prayer hall.
