Kálmán Mikszáth Memorial House

The Kálmán Mikszáth Memorial House is a museum housed in a mansion that the Hungarian writer built himself. The rooms display his personal possessions, written documents, and period furnishings from when he lived there.

The writer acquired the land in 1904 and built the mansion as his residence and creative workspace. After his death, the property became a museum in 1954 to preserve his literary legacy.

The house is named after writer Kálmán Mikszáth, who made this place his home and workspace. Visitors can observe how a successful author from the early 1900s arranged his daily life here.

The museum is open from Tuesday through Saturday and welcomes visitors during morning hours. Plan to spend enough time exploring the rooms and their contents carefully.

On the mansion's facade is a portrait relief of writer Mór Jókai, which was funded with money that Mikszáth earned from writing a biography of his predecessor. This tribute shows the mutual respect between two major authors of their era.
