Phibsborough, Residential neighborhood in north Dublin, Ireland
Phibsborough is a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood north of Dublin characterized by red brick Victorian buildings lining its streets. The area features diverse shops, homes, and community spaces reflecting its development as an urban district beyond the city center.
The neighborhood takes its name from Richard Phibbs, a 17th-century settler from Lincolnshire whose presence influenced local development in the area. The Victorian structures visible today were built as Dublin expanded northward during the 1800s.
Bohemian FC's home stadium, Dalymount Park, serves as a focal point where locals and supporters gather on match days. The club's presence shapes community identity and brings people together regularly.
The neighborhood is well-served by public transport, with several Dublin Bus routes and Luas tram stops including one at Cross Guns Bridge providing easy access. Walking is the best way to experience the local streets and storefronts at a relaxed pace.
The Bradogue River runs beneath the neighborhood through an underground culvert, invisible to most passersby on the streets above. The Royal Canal marks the northern boundary and offers a quieter space away from the busy commercial streets.
