The Silver Strand is a protected beach in Glencolumbkille with white sand stretching in a horseshoe-shaped cove framed by steep cliffs. The shoreline slopes gradually, offering varying conditions depending on tidal patterns and seasonal changes.

The beach served as a filming location for the 1992 film 'The Railway Station Man' starring Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland. This production brought international attention to the location.

The beach's Irish name, An Trá Bhán, means "the white strand", matching the pale sand of the cove at Malin Beg. Several small streams, called wee burns locally, run across the sand into Donegal Bay. The strand lies beside the townland of Malin Beg, near Glencolmcille in south-west Donegal.

Access requires descending around 170 concrete steps from the parking area, which demands good physical fitness for the return climb. Plan extra time and wear suitable footwear to navigate safely up and down.

The waters attract scuba divers exploring the depths, while Rathlin O'Birne Island is visible from the western side. This combination of underwater exploration and island views interests different types of visitors.
