Herbert Park

Herbert Park is an urban park in Ballsbridge featuring formal gardens, a large pond, and sports fields that slope gently toward the River Dodder. A traditional bandstand overlooks the water and anchors the center of the grounds.

This park grew from land donated by the 14th Earl of Pembroke and hosted the Irish International Exhibition in 1907. Those early years established it as a major public space for Dublin.

The bandstand at the center hosts community events and local concerts where people gather together. It shapes how the neighborhood comes together and creates spaces for shared experiences.

A walking path circles the entire park on flat ground, making it easy for jogging and strolling year-round. Multiple entrance points around the perimeter let visitors access the space from different directions.

The pond is home to large carp that grow to impressive sizes before being relocated. These fish are a quiet feature that many visitors miss even though they make the water a living ecosystem.
