Allenstown House, Georgian mansion in County Meath, Ireland
Allenstown House was a Georgian mansion in County Meath with five bays across four stories and proportions typical of large 18th-century country homes in Ireland. The building stood west of Navan near Bohermeen.
William Waller commissioned the house in 1750 as a new residence for his family. It remained a Waller family property for generations to follow.
The house represented what Irish landowners valued during the Georgian period, with classical design choices that showed their taste and social standing. The way it was built and decorated reflected the preferences of its time.
The site is located west of Navan near Bohermeen and can be reached by following local roads from the town. Visitors should check current access conditions as the property is no longer standing.
The final owner, Vice-Admiral Arthur William Craig, changed his surname to Craig-Waller in 1920 to maintain the estate's historical ties. This name change was an unusual gesture to honor the Waller family legacy.
