Dardistown Castle, Medieval castle in County Meath, Ireland

The square tower castle rises 50 feet high with four corner turrets, featuring wooden ceilings and fireplaces on each of its four floors.

John Cornwalsh constructed Dardistown Castle in 1465 using a ten-pound grant from the British government during the Hundred Years War period.

The Battle of Julianstown in 1641 took place on the front lawn when Richard Talbot controlled the fortification during the Irish Rebellion.

Visitors can access the castle from January through August between 10 AM and 2 PM, with adult admission costing 6 euros and reduced rates for students.

The castle contains an unusual anticlockwise spiral stone staircase in one turret, contrary to the standard clockwise design of medieval defensive structures.
