Millmount Fort

Millmount Fort is a medieval castle complex in Drogheda featuring a distinctive cylindrical tower that sits atop a large earthen mound. The structure commands views over the River Boyne and the town below.

The Anglo-Norman leader Hugh De Lacy established the first fortification here in 1172 as part of the broader conquest of Ireland. The site became a key defensive position for the growing town.
