Tullynally Castle

Tullynally Castle is a Gothic structure with multiple towers and turrets near Castlepollard. The property contains 120 rooms and two hectares of grounds with lakes, forests, and walking paths.

The Pakenham family established their residence here in 1655, replacing an older medieval tower that had served local garrisons. The property evolved into a major family home with additions made over subsequent centuries.

The castle library holds thousands of books from the 17th century onward, collected by generations of the Pakenham family. This collection reflects the family's deep connection to reading and learning over hundreds of years.

Visits require groups of at least 20 people and provide access to selected rooms through staircases and towers. Visitors should be prepared for uneven ground on the estate and wear appropriate footwear.

The current owner Thomas Pakenham, a noted historian, planted thousands of trees across the estate. This systematic planting created special walking routes that highlight different tree species.
