Crawford Art Gallery, National art museum in Cork, Ireland
The Crawford Art Gallery spans multiple floors and contains over 4,000 artworks, ranging from classical sculptures to modern paintings and contemporary installations.
The institution started as the Cork School of Design in 1850, later becoming the Crawford School of Art in 1885 through the support of local brewing family.
The gallery maintains Greek and Roman sculpture casts from the Vatican, acquired in 1818 through artist Antonio Canova, including the Belvedere Torso and Apollo Belvedere.
The museum opens Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM, with extended hours until 8:00 PM on Thursdays, and welcomes visitors on Sundays from 11:00 AM.
A major expansion project, approved in March 2023, will add 1,919 square meters of space and reorient the main entrance toward Emmet Place.
