Seven Arches Bridge, Railway and pedestrian bridge in Newport, Ireland
The Seven Arches Bridge extends 93 meters across the Black Oak River with seven segmental spans constructed from red sandstone and limestone materials.
The bridge, completed in 1892, served the Midland Great Western Railway Line until 1937 when the last train crossed its tracks.
The structure holds position 112 on the Record of Protected Structures for County Mayo, representing Victorian engineering methods in Ireland.
Currently integrated into the Great Western Greenway, the bridge provides a path for cyclists and pedestrians crossing the Newport River.
The bridge features thick arch rings of 61 centimeters and substantial piers of 1.8 meters with pointed cutwaters to manage water flow.
