Tzur Moshe, Agricultural moshav in Lev HaSharon Regional Council, Israel.
Tzur Moshe is an agricultural moshav located in the Lev HaSharon Regional Council, on the Sharon plain in central Israel. It consists of farmland, small businesses and residential areas spread across a flat, rural landscape.
The moshav was founded in September 1937 by 20 immigrants from Kastoria, Greece, after land was purchased from the Hannun family of Tulkarm the year before. These Greek pioneers were among the early settlers of the central plain.
The name honors Moshe Kofinas, a Greek parliamentarian who led the Greek branch of the National Zionist Organisation. This connection to the Greek Jewish community still shapes the identity of the place today.
Tzur Moshe is reached by local roads crossing the Sharon plain, with nearby regional towns providing additional services. The pace of life follows farming rhythms, so the area tends to be most active on weekday mornings.
A park named Athens Park, designed by architect Elias Messinas, sits within the moshav and makes the Greek roots of its founders visible through its design. It is rare to find a public space in a small Israeli moshav so directly tied to a specific European origin community.
