Shrine of the Báb

The domed structure features an octagonal base with eighteen windows and intricate tile work, rising prominently above the Mediterranean coastline.

Following the designation of its location by Baháʼu'lláh in 1891, construction began in 1904 and reached completion in 1953 under architect William Maxwell.

The shrine serves as a central pilgrimage destination for followers of the Baháʼí Faith, housing the remains of the Báb, their faith's herald.

The shrine complex maintains regular visiting hours throughout the year, with guided tours available in multiple languages through advance reservations.

Nineteen distinct terraced gardens extend from the shrine down Mount Carmel, creating geometric patterns visible across Haifa's landscape.
