Rex Cinema, Movie theater near Jaffa Street, Jerusalem, Israel

The Rex Cinema building features art deco architectural elements with a single screen and a seating capacity of 1300 people.

Opening its doors on June 16, 1938, the Rex Cinema operated during significant regional changes and later transformed into office spaces and restaurants.

During the 1940s, the cinema presented films from The Nile Film company and featured performances by Lebanese singer Sabah and Palestinian singer Halim Al Roumi.

The former Rex Cinema location at 18 Queen Shlomziyon Street now serves different commercial purposes within the western section of Jerusalem.

In 1939, during a screening of Tarzan, the theater became a target of political violence that affected its subsequent operations.
