שמורת הר חרמונית, Nature reserve in Golan Heights, Israel
Mount Hermonit Nature Reserve spans 5,500 dunams at an elevation of 1,211 meters, featuring diverse forests and rich vegetation near the Syrian border.
Before the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Mount Hermonit served as an Israel Defense Forces observation point, monitoring activities in the Syrian region.
The Arabic name Tell a-Sheikhah derives from Mount Hermon, and according to Druze tradition, represents the wife of Jabal al-Sheikh.
The reserve offers multiple hiking trails and viewpoints, with vehicle access through a paved road leading to designated parking areas near the entrance.
The dormant volcano contains blue springs between Mount Hermon and Tell a-Sheikhah, ranking as the second-highest peak in the Golan Heights.
