Mount Hermonit Nature Reserve surrounds Mount Hermonit, a volcano with an open crater on its western side, for about two kilometres in length and one kilometre in width. The reserve lies north-east of Kibbutz El Rom and south-east of the village of Buq'ata. Its slopes show a band of reddish-brown earth and rock cut into terraced ledges, with grass above and below.

The reserve takes its alternate name, Tel a-Shikha, from the nearby site of that name; the Hebrew name comes from Mount Hermonit, the volcano it encircles. The reserve surrounds the hill for about two kilometres in length and one kilometre in width, northeast of Kibbutz El Rom and southeast of Buq'ata.

The reserve is named after Mount Hermonit, the volcano it surrounds, and is also known as Tel a-Sheikha Nature Reserve. Its Hebrew name comes from the mountain beside it, whose open crater faces west; from the summit the Golan, the Hauran and the shoulder of Mount Hermon are visible.

The reserve lies northeast of Kibbutz El Rom and southeast of the Druze village of Buq'ata, in the northern Golan Heights. It wraps around Mount Hermonit for about two kilometres in length and one kilometre in width. The summit, a volcano whose crater opens to the west, gives a view over the northern Golan, the Hauran and the shoulder of Mount Hermon.

The reserve's other name, Tel Ashikha, comes from the ancient city of Ashikha, which stood in this area in the Roman period. The hill itself is a volcano whose crater opens to the west, and its summit looks out over the northern Golan, the Hauran and the shoulder of Mount Hermon.
