Chai Kef zoo, Zoo in Rishon LeZion, Israel.
Chai Kef zoo is an animal park in Rishon LeZion, a city just south of Tel Aviv, and is home to wallabies, lemurs, kangaroos, several monkey species, flamingos, swans, and ducks. The grounds are divided into separate sections, each housing a different group of animals.
The zoo operated for several years before undergoing major renovations and reopening in 2021. The work covered both the animal enclosures and the general visitor facilities.
The name "Chai Kef" comes from Hebrew and roughly means "living fun", which captures how the place feels on a busy day. Families with young children make up most of the visitors, and the whole setup seems designed around their needs.
The zoo is located along Golda Meir Avenue near the Rishon LeZion interchange and is easy to reach by car or public transport. Since most of the grounds are outdoors, dressing for the weather makes the visit more comfortable.
When families arrive, children are given a small bag of animal food to use in two separate petting areas on the grounds. One area has farm animals and the other smaller pets, so the two spaces offer quite different experiences.
