Rubin Museum, Artist house museum in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The Rubin Museum occupies a four-story building on Bialik Street and displays paintings along with rotating exhibitions of Israeli art. Visitors can explore a library and tour the preserved studio of the painter on the third floor.
The building was constructed in 1930 for the Toeplitz family and became home to painter Reuven Rubin, who was born in Romania, starting in 1946. It was converted into a museum in 1983 to preserve his artistic legacy.
The house shows how Israeli artists created their work in the 20th century and what subjects mattered to them. The rooms give a sense of how artists lived and worked during that time.
The museum is open during the day Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Tuesdays and special weekend hours on Saturdays. Allow enough time to explore all three levels and the rotating exhibitions.
The preserved studio space on the third floor shows the actual surroundings where Rubin created his work. Photographs document both the workspace and Tel Aviv's artistic development throughout the 20th century.
