Max-Liebling House, International Style residential building in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The Max-Liebling House is a three-story residential building on Idelson Street with elongated recessed balconies and a white facade. The horizontal lines and simple design are typical of the International Style from that period.
Architect Dov Karmi designed this building in 1936 when Tel Aviv was growing rapidly and modern European architecture was arriving in the city. The house was one of the first attempts to bring this new style to Israeli residences.
The house shows how European architects adapted their ideas to the Mediterranean coast. The wooden pergola and balcony design were practical solutions for the region's sun and heat.
The building is now a museum and cultural center with exhibitions about modern architecture and Tel Aviv's development. Visitors can tour the spaces and learn more about the International Style and its impact on the city.
A koi pond at the entrance is an unusual feature in this residential architecture. The elongated recessed balconies were implemented here for the first time in Israel in this manner.
