Park Hazahav, Urban park in Kiryat Shmona, Israel
Park Hazahav is a green space in Kiryat Shmona with paths running alongside a stream and thick vegetation on the site. The grounds include wooden bridges crossing the water, picnic areas, and multiple entry points throughout the park.
This site was originally farmland that became an urban park following Kiryat Shmona's founding in the 1950s. The stream water was initially used to supply the growing residential areas of the young city.
A former building within the park now serves as a museum where visitors can learn about how people settled in Kiryat Shmona and built the city over time. The space tells the story of different communities who arrived and made this place their home.
The park is fairly easy to walk through, with marked trails and informational signs about plants and animals along the way. Sturdy footwear is recommended, especially after rain when the paths can become slippery.
The park contains Taxodium trees, a species rarely seen in Israeli landscaping. These trees form a wooded area near water pools and create an environment similar to the nearby Banias Nature Reserve.
