Kloster S. Salvator auf dem Berg Tabor

The monastery complex stands at 588 meters above sea level, featuring stone walls and religious structures on the eastern section of Mount Tabor's plateau.

Tancred of Tiberias established the Benedictine monastery in 1100, which remained active until 1187 when monks fled to Acre following the Battle of Hattin.

The monastery served as an episcopal seat with jurisdiction over Galilee until 1109, when these powers transferred to the Bishop of Nazareth.

Visitors can reach the monastery through a cypress-lined path leading to the entrance gate and the Franciscan convent buildings.

The monastery grounds contain foundations from the 12th century Benedictine structure and remnants of a Saracen fortress built between 1211 and 1213.
