Sharona

Sharona is a residential settlement located on elevated ground in the Lower Galilee region, surrounded by farmland and open countryside. Houses spread across the hilly terrain, with residents primarily engaged in agricultural activities on the surrounding land.

The settlement was established in 1938 when members of a socialist youth movement relocated here with support from agricultural organizations. This founding reflected broader efforts to develop Jewish communities in the Galilee region.

Residents here practice a farming model where families own individual plots but work together on shared agricultural tasks and equipment. This balance between independence and cooperation shapes how the community functions today.

The settlement sits on hilly terrain, so visitors should expect uneven ground and sloping paths. Morning hours are ideal for walking around and observing daily life in the community.

The location once served as a significant trade route near Tiberias during medieval times, when it had a different name. This ancient passage way now lies beneath modern farmland and residential structures.
