Agaya Gangai

Agaya Gangai is a waterfall that drops 91 meters from the Aiyaru river into a pool surrounded by dense forest and rocky terrain. The water plunges dramatically over layered rock faces and collects in a basin below, creating a natural amphitheater of stone and vegetation.

The waterfall became more widely known after Namakkal district separated from Salem district in 1997, establishing itself as a key natural landmark for the region. Since then it has grown in importance as both a natural feature and a focal point for local and visitor interest.

Local people view this waterfall as a sacred place and gather there during festivals to perform traditional Tamil ceremonies and prayers. The site holds deep spiritual meaning for surrounding communities and remains an important center for religious observances.
