Attur Fort, Military fortification in Salem district, India.

The stone walls of Attur Fort reach 30 feet in height and 15 feet in width, constructed without mortar from wedge-shaped cut stones.

The fort, built by Lakshmana Nayakan of the Gatti Mudaliar dynasty during the 17th century, later became part of the Mysore Kingdom.

The fort complex contains three temples, two palaces, a court, and three treasuries, reflecting the architectural practices of medieval Tamil Nadu.

The fort lies 56 kilometers from Salem on the banks of river Vashista, with the Archaeological Department of Tamil Nadu managing the site.

Two magazine points within the fort display the tombs of Lieutenant Colonel John Murray and Henry Coyle, plus an image of a mounted soldier.
