Kapurthala district

Kapurthala district is an administrative region in Punjab in northern India, spread across several geographic areas. It contains three main administrative zones that together form a region with villages and smaller towns.

The region took its modern form under Maharaja Jagatjit Singh, who transformed and modernized it. His leadership brought architectural and cultural changes that remain visible across the region today.

The region is best reached via the national highway that passes through one of the main administrative areas and connects to larger cities. Travel between different parts of the district takes time, so plan movement accordingly.

A notable palace in the region was designed after a famous European castle, showing an unexpected link to French architecture. This building remains a rare example of such architectural influence in northern India.
