Humayun's Tomb, Mughal tomb in South East Delhi, India
The red sandstone mausoleum features a grand central dome, symmetrical design, white marble accents, and geometrical patterns across its multiple levels.
Empress Bega Begum commissioned this memorial for Emperor Humayun in 1558, with Persian architects Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and Sayyid Muhammad completing it in 1572.
The building established new architectural standards in South Asia, introducing Persian-style double domes and structured garden layouts that influenced subsequent Mughal structures.
The monument opens daily from sunrise to sunset, with entrance fees of 600 rupees for international visitors and 40 rupees for Indian nationals.
The mausoleum contains over 100 graves, including those of Emperor Humayun, Empress Bega Begum, and numerous other Mughal family members.
