Subz Burz, Tomb monument near Humayun's Tomb, South East Delhi, India.
Subz Burz is an octagonal tomb structure in South East Delhi with a dome covered in blue, green, and yellow tiles and four recessed arches framing doorways on different sides. The building stands in proximity to other historical monuments and can be viewed from multiple angles within the surrounding complex.
The monument was built in 1625 by Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khana, a noble in Akbar's court, as a tomb for Fahim Khan. This period saw significant construction activity across Delhi under Mughal rule, with many such structures built during this era of expansion.
The octagonal structure shows Persian architectural influences mixed with local Delhi building styles, visible in its shape and the decorated tilework that covers its surfaces.
The tomb is easily reached from Jangpura metro station nearby. It also lies close to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, making it accessible by different transportation options.
The original green tiles that gave the monument its name were replaced with blue ones during restoration work in the 1980s. This change often surprises visitors who expect to see the green tiles referenced in the site's name.
