Hanumangarh district, Administrative district in Bikaner division, India
Hanumangarh district is an administrative region in Bikaner division comprising seven administrative subdivisions across a large area. The Ghaggar River flows through the territory, and the district is bounded by Churu, Sri Ganganagar, Punjab, and Haryana.
This region was established as a separate administrative district in 1994, carved out from what was previously Ganganagar district. The area contains more than 100 archaeological sites from the Indus Valley Civilization dating back thousands of years.
Religious temples and shrines dot the landscape along the river, serving as gathering places for local communities and pilgrims. These sites remain central to how people mark important occasions and connect with their traditions.
Hanumangarh Junction railway station on the Jodhpur-Bathinda line offers connections to major cities across northern and central India. Visitors should plan their arrival through this station or use local roads to explore different parts of the region.
An archaeological museum in Kalibangan displays artifacts from the Indus Valley Civilization including ancient seals, human remains, and inscribed materials from over 5000 years ago. These finds offer visitors a direct window into one of the world's earliest urban societies.
