Ashoknagar district, Administrative district in Gwalior division, India
Ashoknagar is an administrative district in the Gwalior division of central India. The territory lies between the Betwa River to the east and the Sindh River to the west.
The district was established in 2003 from the former princely state of Gwalior. The territories belonged to the ancient Chedi kingdom during the Mahabharata period.
Hindu traditions shape daily life here, visible in local festivals and ceremonies that bring communities together throughout the year. The Yaduvanshi Ahir community forms a significant part of the population and maintains these cultural practices.
The district connects to major Indian cities through railway lines and multiple highways. The road and rail network makes travel to and within the area relatively straightforward.
The Thubonji Siddha Kshetra complex contains around two dozen temples with a large statue of Lord Adinath. Visitors report hearing unusual musical sounds at night coming from this sacred site.
