Perumbavoor is an industrial municipality situated in Ernakulam district between the Periyar and Muvattupuzha rivers. The settlement divides into 27 administrative wards and contains numerous schools, colleges, and commercial establishments throughout its areas.
The municipal structure originated in 1936 when Sir C.P. Ramaswamy Iyer officially authorized Perumbavoor as one of four new Panchayats in the area. This establishment marked the town's recognition as a distinct administrative entity.
