COEP Technological University

COEP Technological University is an engineering college in the Shivajinagar neighborhood of the Indian city of Pune. The campus covers around 36 acres with two main sections and several student housing blocks.

The college started in 1854 as a training center for public works officials under British colonial rule. In 2022 it gained status as an independent technological university through regional government legislation.

The boat on campus represents the Regatta tradition, where students test their own creations on nearby water each year. This event combines technical skill with the joy of competition and draws many spectators.

Visitors can explore the outdoor areas and observe the architecture from different periods, with some buildings listed as protected heritage. The grounds are accessible during daytime hours and are centrally located in Pune with good public transport links.

The site preserves structures from the mid 19th century and ranks among the oldest engineering education centers on the Indian subcontinent. Some of the original buildings still carry traces of the colonial past and are under city heritage protection.
