Pune district

Pune district is an administrative territory in western Maharashtra, India. It covers areas from the Sahyadri range to the eastern plains and includes the city of the same name along with several smaller towns.

The region served as a political center of the Maratha realm under Peshwa rule from the early 18th century until 1818. After that period ended, the area became part of British administration and later a key territory in modern Maharashtra.

The district maintains numerous educational institutions, earning recognition as an academic center that draws students from different regions of India.

The territory divides into several smaller administrative units, each managing its own local services. Travelers may encounter different climate conditions depending on the area, from wetter zones in the west to drier sections in the east.

The topography of this territory creates an unusual climate division, with western hills receiving heavy rains and eastern plains remaining nearly dry. This difference shows clearly in the vegetation and farming methods, which vary greatly from section to section.
