Visapur Fort, Hill fort in Pune district, India
The stone fortification stands at an elevation of 1,084 meters above sea level, featuring extensive walls that stretch across a vast plateau.
Balaji Vishwanath, the first Peshwa of the Maratha Empire, constructed the fort between 1713 and 1720, establishing it as a strategic military position.
The fort contains several temples dedicated to Hanuman and includes a well connected to Pandava legends from Hindu mythology.
Visitors can reach the fort through Malavli Railway Station, located 5 kilometers from the base village, with a two-hour trek to the summit.
The fort contains a large stone wheel that was operated by bulls to grind a construction mixture of lime, jaggery, and lead.
