Nowrosjee Wadia College, College in Pune, India

Nowrosjee Wadia College is a two-storey building in Pune with a pale cream upper facade over a grey stone lower level. An inscription across the top reads "NOWROSJEE WADIA COLLEGE" above "SILVER JUBILEE COMMEMORATION HALL". A colonnade of smooth cylindrical columns on square bases runs along a low stone wall, and a round-arched entrance with a fanlight sits above a short flight of steps in the centre.

The Modern Education Society was set up in February 1932, and the college followed on 21 July 1932, within six months. Prin. V.K. Joag approached Sir Cusrow Wadia in mid-January 1932 about starting an arts and science college; Cusrow and his brother Sir Ness Wadia funded it. Founders included Sir Manekji Mehta, Prof. D.D. Kapadia, Shri A.B. Sethna, Dr. R.K. Naidu, Dr. A.D'Gama and Sardar Mudaliar, who wanted education in Pune's eastern parts.

The college is named after Nowrosjee Wadia, and its founding was financed by Sir Cusrow Wadia and his brother Sir Ness Wadia after Prin. V.K. Joag approached them in January 1932. The founders included Sir Manekji Mehta, Prof. D.D. Kapadia, Shri A.B. Sethna, Dr. R.K. Naidu, Dr. A.D'Gama and Sardar Mudaliar, who set up the Modern Education Society to bring a college to Pune's eastern districts.

The college stands at 18.53303, 73.87983 in eastern Pune, run by the Modern Education Society and affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. The main facade faces the street with the round-arched entrance and steps in the centre, so the colonnade and the "SCIENCE BLOCK" sign are easy to find from the road. It is a working college, so visits belong outside teaching hours.

The college holds PMC Heritage Grade II status, preserving architectural elements from the 1930s that document Pune's academic development. This designation makes it an important example of the city's building history.
