Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Mumbai, Engineering school in Andheri West, Mumbai, India.
The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology is an engineering college in the Andheri West neighborhood of Mumbai. The buildings house lecture halls, workshops and computer rooms spread across the campus in Versova.
The Maharashtra state government founded this engineering college in 1992 to provide technical education for young people in western Mumbai. The institution arose when the city needed more training options in technology fields.
The college takes its name from a former Indian prime minister known for his modernization policies. Students from different parts of Mumbai come here to learn together and work on projects in the workshops.
Visitors can enter the campus grounds during weekday class hours and walk through the outdoor areas. Access to workshops and labs requires prior arrangement with the administration office.
A model aircraft program allows students to build small flying machines and learn aviation engineering principles through hands-on work. The handmade models are tested at a field outside the campus.
