The Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place is a Hindu house of worship in central Delhi, India, rising around 33 meters (108 feet) above street level. Silver-plated doors carved with scenes from the Ramayana epic mark the entrance, while small clerestory windows bring natural light into the foyer.
Maharaja Man Singh I of Amber founded this worship site during Emperor Akbar's rule in the 16th century. Maharaja Jai Singh ordered a complete rebuilding in 1724.
Worshipers walk clockwise around the prayer hall, an age-old practice especially popular on Tuesdays and Saturdays when crowds gather. People bring flowers and incense sticks that fill the space with fragrance and create an intense devotional environment.
The sanctuary sits roughly 250 meters southwest of Connaught Place and is easily reached through several Metro stations and road connections. Visiting during cooler morning hours is advisable when fewer people are present.
A crescent moon figure adorns the spire instead of the usual Hindu symbols, which is extremely rare among religious buildings of this kind. This unusual choice likely reflects the syncretic spirit of the Mughal era when the original structure was built.
