Cochin House, Government building at Jantar Mantar Road, New Delhi, India.
Cochin House is a government building on Jantar Mantar Road in the Lutyen's Bungalow Zone of New Delhi. Built in the early 1900s, it displays colonial architectural features blended with local design elements and stands within a carefully planned historic residential area.
Built between 1903 and 1911, the house was bought in 1920 by the Raja of Cochin for his stays in the city. After World War II, it served as offices and later became an international organization office.
The name comes from its former owner, the Raja of Cochin, who used it as a residence during his stays in Delhi. Inside, the building shows a blend of colonial and Indian design that reflects the story of its various residents.
The building now functions as part of the Kerala House complex, serving official purposes and as a guest house. Access may be limited since it remains an active government building.
During World War II, the building housed war offices, giving it a strategic role in India's history. This wartime use shows how a private residence was put to national service.
